Welding Car for Rail Maintenance with Electromechanical Assembly

Industrial steel construction
LM Industrial Steel Construction—Welding Carts in Production
Our client, a major player in railway technology, has developed its welding car for the national rail network, thereby ensuring efficient and safe rail maintenance.

The mobile, rail-guided work unit consists of a steel base frame and an aluminum superstructure.

The vehicle has its own propulsion system but can also be towed by rail vehicles, and it simultaneously protects the welding process and personnel working on the tracks.
Due to capacity constraints, a partner was engaged to handle the implementation and complete assembly, including all installation and testing: L+M Industriestahlbau.

The challenge

A highly complex system had to be constructed, integrating mechanical, electrical, and gas engineering systems. The exceptionally large volume of materials posed a major challenge: sorting, coordinating, and installing them in the correct order.
The project also required the precise integration of steel and aluminum structures, professional electrical installation, a safe gas supply for the welding process, and final testing of all equipment—all within tight tolerances and under space-constrained conditions.

The solution – unique and clever

L+M Industriestahlbau handled the entire project: the mechanical assembly of steel frames, lightweight aluminum frames, and cladding; all electromechanical assembly; and the installation of the gas supply system.

The process concluded with an inspection of the respective units, including a leak test of the gas supply and an electrical inspection. The delivered materials were thus transformed into a tested, ready-to-use unit.

L+M Industriestahlbau has brought all disciplines—mechanical, electrical, gas engineering, and testing—under one roof and perfectly coordinated them during implementation. Customer-focused, efficient, with end-to-end accountability across all disciplines.

Thanks to L+M AG ‘s high level of flexibility, a few adjustments, welds, and paint jobs were completed in-house in a time-saving manner.

It is precisely this combination of expertise in our collaboration with L+M AG that makes all the difference: a single point of contact, a coordinated process, and a compelling result.
