Spark extinguishing system – So that the spark doesn’t jump over

Spark extinguishing systems reduce the risk of fires and sparks in production facilities that occur during the processing of flammable substances and dusts.

WHY DO YOU NEED A SPARK EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM?

To prevent fires in extraction systems, the following safety measures can be installed:

  • Mechanical pre-separator systems that specifically remove ignition sources such as sparks or hot particles from the extracted air flow upstream of the extraction system.
  • Spark extinguishing systems that detect the high-energy particles in the pipe and extinguish them there.

FUNCTION OF A SPARK EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

If sparks occur in an extraction line, they are detected within milliseconds by highly sensitive sensors and the extinguishing water is released via extinguishing nozzles. Water, powder or foam is discharged from the extinguishing nozzles as required. This effectively extinguishes sparks. At the same time, an alarm is triggered in the alarm center or control center.

A fully automatic spark extinguishing system consists of:

  • Highly sensitive wireless sensors
  • Alarm center, control center
  • Automatic deletion
  • Pressure booster system (optional)

Spark detector

Spark detection in the closed conveyor system is carried out by function-monitored spark detectors that react to the infrared radiation of passing ignition initiators. The detector continuously monitors its electronics for functionality. Detectors with visibility monitoring are available as an option. Faults are automatically forwarded to the control center.

VDS GUIDELINE 2106

The spark extinguishing system complies with VDS guideline 2106. The VdS standard regulations VdS 2106 take into account the latest technological developments and describe the requirements for the planning and installation of spark detection, spark elimination and spark extinguishing systems.
