How does a cyclone separator work?

The inner wall of a cyclone pre-separator is slightly conical at the bottom so that the extracted air is guided through as if in a whirlwind. The coarse particles are separated by being pushed to the outer edge of the cyclone by the centrifugal force of the air flow.
They then fall down into a dust collection container. The cleaned air rises to the outside via the immersion tube.

The better the cyclone separator is designed and adapted to the air volume flow and the material to be separated, the better its separation performance.
