Mixer Screws – Equipment Components

Industrial steel construction
LM Industrial Steel Construction Mixer Screw 2
Mixing screws are required for mixing and shredding biomass; these must be able to withstand high mechanical stresses during continuous operation.

During the process, the mixer screws are exposed to both severe wear caused by the material being cut and high levels of corrosion caused by the aggressive, moist medium.

The challenge

The spiral must be bent at a uniform pitch and welded to the worm body or hub with minimal distortion.

The requirements include precise geometry and concentricity, consistently clean weld seams, and a design capable of withstanding the combined effects of wear and corrosion over long service life—all while accommodating the demanding handling of large, heavy components.

The solution – unique and clever

L+M Industriestahlbau supplies the mixer screws as complete units.
Thanks to precise preparation, fabrication using jigs, and a carefully selected welding sequence, a custom-made, robust assembly was created that withstands the high stress and corrosion demands of the biomass process.
