Industrial ventilation for cooling the hot air duct

Industrial steel construction
An existing hot air duct in the cement industry, whose air has a temperature of approx. 700° C, is to be cooled with secondary air (air volume of 60,000m³/h).

The cooling system can be installed on site at the customer’s premises, in confined spaces and with minimal structural modifications.

The challenge

  • Installation of a cooling unit, but on two levels
  • Tight space conditions on site
  • Components must have a high temperature resistance due to the possible backflow of hot gas when the cooling system is at a standstill
  • A complex air duct system
  • Regulation and final adjustment of the air duct routing, as several air inlet points are available

The solution – unique and clever

The solution developed by L+M Industrial steel construction in collaboration with the customer meets all requirements and more…
A cooling air system with two ventilation units (redundant), consisting of a base frame, industrial fan, intake filter and silencer. The two ventilation units were dimensioned in such a way that handling and installation on site could be carried out without risk and good service accessibility was guaranteed. Thanks to the partial redundancy, i.e. if one ventilation unit fails, the system can remain in operation for a short time.
